Flowers are pristine and beautiful; there is no doubt about it. But nothing is worse than a wilting flower. We believe that valentines’ flowers can be especially meaningful, and here are some helpful tips for prolonging your flowers.Firstly, you should check your flowers daily. Whether you have got them from a shop or got your flowers online, don’t take any chances. Water in the vase should be fresh, and topped up daily. If you decide to fully change the water, you should also clean out the vase, just to fully confirm that no dirt or harmful substances are left.Re-cutting the stems should take place every few days. It is generally best to cut about 3 to 4 inches from the stem, and to cut at an angle. This angular cut gives opportunity to bring up as much water into the plant as possible – prolonging the plants life.Keeping your flowers in an appropriately temperate climate is also very important. Most flowers prefer temperatures in-between 18 – 22 degrees Celsius ( 65 – 72 degrees Fahrenheit). Flowers are also best kept away from direct sunlight, as this can damage the flower itself. Care should also be given to keep the flowers well hyrdrated. Dehydration is a massive factor that can damage your flowers. Therefore you should make sure your flowers are not in close proximity to external heating, such as radiators, ceiling fans, hot water pipes, or boilers for example. Following these simple steps could very well prolong your flowers from wilting.
